In a bid to up my fashion content game, I decided I would write a series on summer fashion and discuss various topics from my summer go-to pieces to my holiday essentials. For todays post and the first in the series, I’m gonna be discussing how I tackle dressing for summer when the weather is not so summery and totally against you.
There are certain things that every girl must have in her wardrobe, her fashion basics, her go-to pieces if you will, such as a little black dress or the perfectly structured blazer.
With each season rolling around, different fashion needs arise, depending both on where you live and where you are travelling.
I’ve found that summer can be tricky to navigate when you live in a country which doesn’t always receive the best side of summer. One day temperatures can be soaring above favourite holiday hotspots and others it can rain for days on end. Combine this with possibly also travelling abroad to warmer climates, how to possibly create the perfect mix of summer essentials to suit all my needs? It’s something I’ve found really difficult. Hoping to wear my new summer dresses is usually dashed by perpetual rain and grey skies.

The Summer Sandal
You’ll usually find me all summer skipping around in block heeled sandals. They are my absolute go-to and I discovered only the other day that I in fact do not actually have any flat summery shoes to wear, but don’t worry, I’m on it! The perfect summer sandal doesn’t have to be heeled, the high street has the most beautiful sandals to offer.
~ Team sandals with jeans to transform an ordinary casual look to summery chic.
I love midi skirts because I feel you can still pull them off no matter what the weather. When its not exactly a ‘legs oot’ occasion, a midi skirt is the perfect option for some summer elegance.
~ Team a midi skirt with a denim jacket to add some edge to an outfit.
Whether it’s the perfect pastel shade or a basket bag that has major beach vibes, a summer bag with the versatility to easily work with any outfit is a must for an instant boost on a rainy day.
The Perfect Jeans
Comfort and fit are definitely the most important things when it comes to buying jeans. Consider going a shade lighter for summer, I love medium blue demin and light greys during the summer months, oh and ofc white if that’s your thing. I even tend to be more daring with the design, incorporating rips, embroidery and prints in to my jean collection.
~ Zara have some great summery jeans with coloured prints and embroidery at the moment.
In Glasgow we can often have days where it starts off grey/cloudy and then miraculously just a few hours later the sun appears. A simple way not to get caught out by this up and down weather is to pop a pair of sunnies in your bag for an effortless summer look whenever the sun does appear, we can’t afford to miss out on any of the vital vitamin D after all! Whether you love the designer look or a classic pair from the high-street, a good pair of sunglasses which have the ability to dress up a full outfit are always a win.
~ There are loads of dupes for designer sunglasses on the high-street if you don’t want to splash the cash so keep an eye out. My Chloe dupes are from New Look.
Til next time,
