Gift Guide 2017 Part 1

Gift Guide 2017 Part 1

For me, gifting is one of my favourite parts of Christmas. Theres nothing better than finding the perfect gift for a loved one, y’know one of those moments where you give yourself a big ol’ pat on the back because, guuuurl you done good!

Because of my love of gifting; a Gift Guide is possibly one of my favourite, if not my absolute favourite blog post to create! Sharing all of my favourite products and best ideas with you all combined with (many) hours scrolling through nearly every single online shop out there, does actually bring me a lot of joy (in a sad sort of way).

So this year I present to you, my gift guide, split in two… (sorry I just had to). You lucky lot will be getting two carefully curated gift guides for Her to suit every budget, the first being all things secret santa/stocking fillers/christmassy feels.

I hope you can find something here for someone special!

~ You can also shop straight from my links on the product scroller just to make life even easier

Mug ~ Debenhams / Body Butter ~ The Body Shop / Initial Cosmetic Bag ~ Matalan / 2018 Diary ~ TKmaxx / Snowflake Decoration ~ The White Company / Inital Coaster ~ Next / Christmas Jumper ~ Next /

This works well for a variety of different budgets; for example if they are a hot festive drink lover (like me), purchase them the ingredients to make up their favourite festive hot drink at home along with a festive mug!

Or for the festive fanatic in your life, create a christmas themed boxed tailor-made to your budget! Add a christmas scented candle, christmas sweet treats, a decoration and any other cosy christmassy finds! Or just make up a box of their favourite things! Simple!

Summer Essentials for Summer 2017

Summer Essentials for Summer 2017

I know its August (yep thats right August) and summer has practically flown by and we’re all straight on to thinking about pumpkin spiced lattes, falling leaves and cosy knits; but if anyone is still hanging on to that last little bit of summer, then this post is for you!

I’ve not actually been on my summer holiday yet this year (which is this month eeeeek!), so I’m still very much in the process of perfecting my summer routine and summer wardrobe.

In todays post, I bring to you, my summer essentials 2017; the products I’m loving the most, my fashion go-to pieces and the things I essentially cannot live without this summer, especially when on holiday!

Coral Everything

During the summer months I especially love coral nails, I’m also partial to a coral lip now and again, basically everything coral coloured. There are so many beautiful shades of coral with more peachy/orange tones to darker red/pink tones. I’m currently wearing a dark coral colour on my nails which is a perfect match for the Rimmel nail polish in the shade coralicious ~ 430. The Chanel nail polish featured in the picture above is the colour Mirabella ~ 623, which is a beautiful warm orangey coral colour; Chanel always have the most beautiful summer colours! I’ve just purchased the most beautiful coral dress that I hope to feature soon, if it suits me as much as it does the model that is, so keep your eyes peeled!

Boater Hat

The hat of the season, the boater hat. These are absolutely everywhere this summer and are a key and timeless piece to add to your summer wardrobe. They look super cute teamed with cute floaty dresses and skirts (and make for a great Instagram photo). I’m definitely a hat person, especially in the summer, they make the perfect accessory while being extremely practical in the sun. However, the boater hat is something I feel everyone can pull off; so don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and give the boater hat trend a go!

Statement Sunglasses

Elevate any outfit by throwing on a pair of statement sunglasses! These Chloe dupes from New Look are my absolute favourites right now and are an absolute steal for only £6 in the sale!!

Wedged Espadrilles

The most worn shoe of the summer has to go to the Castañer canvas espadrille wedges, you’ll probably have seen these shoes flooding your Instagram feeds if you follow a tonne of other bloggers like I do. While not the priciest shoe, I wasn’t completely convinced at first. When I saw the similar black ones from Asos (pictured above) I thought i’d give them a try. I can see why these shoes have become one of  the hottest trends of summer; optimum comfort with a sight wedge for added height and to accentuate the legs while also transforming  a granny shoe to stylish and chic with a ‘lace up’ detail, I love the ribbon material used on the Asos dupes!

St Tropez Instant Tan Gloss

To give your tan that extra glowy boost for summer, pop some of the St Tropez Instant Tan Gloss over the top to give a finished look. It is definitely an essential for me as I often feel my tan looks slightly dry at times and is in need of a glow-over!

GlamGlow GlowSetter

I first tried a sample of this setting spray in Boots (as I was already a fan of the brands facemasks). After a full day of being out and about, I looked in my car mirror and my make-up had stayed put like it never had before. From this moment, I knew I had to add this wonder setting spray  to my collection. It’s the perfect product for summer, to protect  and maintain your make-up on those hot days!  I’m  hoping it will protect my make-up during humid nights on holiday, I shall keep you updated!

Pom-Pom Straw Bags

The perfect fun beach bag. There are so many shapes and sizes and colours to choose from, the possibilities are endless! I definitely know I will be using this bag year after year; I kind of haven’t stopped staring at it since I bought it!

Venus Snap Razor

Literally the handiest thing to pop in your handbag during the summer months. Missed a bit? Oh I can just get that! Unexpected outfit change? no need to worry! This little snap has you covered for all those unexpected occasions which may arise on a hot summers day!

Bondi Sands Tan Eraser ~ Review

Bondi Sands Tan Eraser ~ Review

When I first heard about this product, I was very excited. If it worked, it would be an absolute game-changer for me as someone who has to spend a full week exfoliating/scrubbing/ burning the skin off of my body to remove the remains of a scaly, dirty looking tan. I managed to pick it up in Boots on offer for £10!! (usually £15). Since then, I’ve used it three times to make sure I could provide the most honest and accurate review of this product possible; I know I’m a little late to the party and you may have read 100 of these reviews by now but I wanted to give it a good go beforehand!

The Bondi Sands Self Tan eraser claims to remove self-tan without any harmful ingredients or exfoliation, in just 5 minutes!!

I used this product on its own with only an exfoliating sponge. You rub it all over tanned areas and leave it for at least 5 mins before jumping in the shower. Each time I used the tan eraser, my tan had easily been on for a week with possible top-ups on occasion; so some of it was old and some of it new. The instructions do recommend using it on a tan that has been on the skin a good few days.

I used this product on my St Tropez Classic Mousse tan each time, not a Bondi Sands tan itself. I imagine it is formulated to work best with the Bondi Sands self tanners but I wanted to see if it would work for my favourite self-tan that I usually wear.

Don’t get me wrong you still have to scrub a little to get the tan off once in the shower. I would actually call it more of a ‘buff’ off. Although it definitely works best on a tan that has been on longer! I’ve included some before and after pictures from the most recent time I used the tan eraser, although not every single spec of tan is removed, there is a CLEAR difference. Areas where my tan had built up,  such as my ankles, were a lot more difficult to remove even when armed with this tan eraser. Although the eraser helped tone down the strong orange colour that was building, I think more built up areas would benefit from repeated use or even more product. This product has definitely made a big difference to me and my skin; sometimes I would scrub and scrub until my skin was red raw with the tan still nowhere near budging. The Bondi Sands self-tan eraser has definitely made my life A LOT easier.

The only other thing I would say is that after applying the eraser foam, sometimes my skin would tingle  which felt really uncomfortable, but the benefits of this product definitely outweigh the 5 mins of  uncomfortable tingling! Also, the smell isn’t great; although it is said to have no harmful ingredients, the smell is quite pungent and ‘chemically’.

Overall from me, it gets a big thumbs up!

I hope you have enjoyed this little review, if you have anymore questions please ask away in the comments. Sorry I could not link the actual product itself, it was not available to link on the shop site, but as I said you can pick it up at Boots!

Over the past month I’ve been changing up my skincare products and making an extra effort to refine my routine, aiming to discover the best selection of products for my own skin. I finally feel content with the selection of products I am using and after weeks/months of testing, I’m finally ready to share them with you. By no means am I settling, I’ll continue to update my skincare as I need to and as I find new great products, all ofc while keeping you updated too.

When it comes to my skin, no two days are the same. As i’ve said before, it is something I feel very self conscious about and something I would very much like to continue to improve. Its dry in places, as well as often be oily with hormonal breakouts which occur like clockwork. My pale complexion can often be overcome blotchiness and an uneven skin tone. By no means do I have the worst skin in the world, It’s just not exactly the perfect skin I’d love to have.

Using a Primark face cleansing pad and Clinique Take the Day Off Balm, I evenly swirl the balm over my face to remove my make up. I feel using the  cleansing  pad allows me to get past just the superficial layer of make-up to the remnants that lie deeper in the skin, without overly scrubbing.

Using the Take the Day off Balm seems effortless as the make-up seems to just melt away (even tough eye make up). After cleansing my face in circular motions with the pad, I use a face cloth soaked in hot water to remove the product and remaining make up from my face. I often double cleanse on days I’m wearing slightly more make-up.

After being desperate to try the GlamGlow products for a while, I finally decided to treat myself and purchase the Supermud mask to tackle my annoying spots that creep up on me at the absolute worst times. I use this both as a mask on oily T zone areas (as you can see in my picture above) as well on specific spots in an attempt to calm and treat them. I then leave the mask on – just until it completely dries out, before washing it off with warm water.

I love using this mask on the lead up to a night out or event to make sure my skin stays calm and clear. I definitely have noticed some serious benefits after using this on my skin. It does sting the skin a little when on at first so may not be the best for those with very sensitive skin. I was also sent samples of GlamGlows other masks with my purchase ~ ThirstyMud and FlashMud, both of which are amazing. I particularly loved the FlashMud as a brightening treatment for my skin, it works wonders and it’s a great exfoliant!

I’ve been using this Liz Earle toner since January, I just love the ease of the small spray bottle and the beautiful scent.

I spray about 2/3 times onto my face and pat all over.

I know you are all probably sick to death of me talking about this but I couldn’t not include it. I still love derma- rolling and I’m really beginning to see the benefits of prolonged use! I roll the 2mm derma-roller over my face in various directions to cover the full surface area. I follow this by patting 2 pumps of the rejuvenating serum on to my face and then by sterilising the roller.

If you want to know more about the Derma-Rolling process, my first impressions or the FAQ’s that I’ve been asked, you can check out my post all about it here.

My current favourite product, the new moisture surge by Clinique which is even more hydrating than it’s previous counterparts – which you can still purchase as part of the moisture surge collection. This moisturiser is the perfect lightweight hydration for summer. It’s definitely time to leave those thick creamy consistencies behind and let your skin lap up this refreshing and light hydrator.

Like a drink of water for the skin.

My pjs are from River Island. I picked them up for a bargain price in the sale because the River Island pyjama collection is literally my favourite. I kind of hate wearing anything else to sleep in ~I feel like an absolute princess every time I put on my super soft satin feeling pjs. I’ve linked alternatives below (and my pj bottoms) so you can have a look for yourselves.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this post, It’s the first since my new website went live so I’m super excited! Hope you find this somewhat helpful or interesting and if you have any questions I’ll try answer as best I can!

Lots of Love,

A|W x
